D urbin is the number-two Democrat in the Senate and is already predicting that Giannoulias' Republican opponent, Congressman Mark Kirk, will spend more money on his campaign. [1]

The senator said he'll begin by reaching out to friends and supporters for help in getting out the vote to get Giannoulias elected. He noted that the National Republican Senatorial Campaign began running negative advertising the day after Giannoulias won Tuesday's primary. The one-term state treasurer and former banker will be running for the same seat that Obama held before being elected president. [2]

After liberal Massachusetts elevated Republican Scott Brown to the Senate, David Axelrod and his fellow White House thumb suckers had to admit Brown sneaked up and caught them napping. For months, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has hammered away at U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, the five-term congressman who sailed to the Republican nomination last week. [3]
